Check the legal entity
A global broker brand may operate through several companies. The company named in your client agreement determines which regulator, protections and dispute process apply. Verify the licence number directly in the regulator’s official register.
Understand total cost
Compare typical spreads, commissions, overnight financing, currency-conversion charges, inactivity fees and deposit or withdrawal costs. The lowest advertised spread may apply only to a specific account or market condition.
Test the platform
Use a demo account to test order entry, chart stability and mobile access. Confirm whether the broker supports the platform and tools you need, such as MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView, in your country and account type.
Execution and risk controls
Read the broker’s execution policy. Check how market orders, limit orders, stop orders, negative balances and margin close-outs are handled. Execution speed statistics and slippage claims should be understood in context.
Deposits and withdrawals
Confirm accepted methods, processing times, fees and account-name requirements before depositing. Make a small test withdrawal early. Never send money to a personal bank account, crypto wallet or payment destination that is not confirmed through the broker’s official channel.
Final broker checklist
Do not choose a broker only because of a bonus, influencer or high leverage. Compare the exact account available to you and retain copies of important terms.
